At http://www.publicdomaintorrents.com they use bittorrent to distribute movies. Bittorrent uses the word "seed" to mean someone who has a copy of a file.
What add do we see? Amazon pimping the New American Garden (Seed Kit). Chuckle.

Downloading movies over bittorent, even over a "fast" conneciton, makes me believe we really need fiber to curb before this digital media thing can take off.

Agreed. IME "torrents" have been anything but.
I get movies pretty fast. I'm on ADSL and it's very important I have the upstream capped to about 1/3 or 1/2 it's possible bandwidth, otherwise the upstream eats in to the downstream.
