Damn, was that fun.  Just as fast paced as Quake 3, but somehow I enjoyed it more.  Usually the brainless FPS deathmatch is not my thing, but something about it being a LAN party makes it better.

One of the guys we play with is Asian, although I'm not sure of what sort, but he was playing as "A Chink" which was a little weird.  Every time he got you it'd say "You've been fragged by a Chink", which was pretty funny actually.

Q4DM is pretty good.  The single player isn't bad either -- much better than DOOM4, anyway...

The soft shadows are great, they add a lot to the gameplay.  You can see people coming down corridors around corners and such.
