about 10 years ago, I started hanging out with two people (a guy and girl) from the place I worked. I sort of had a crush on the girl, but I never said anything because they were dating.  They eventually got married but the crush never wore off.  As we hung out over the years, I liked her more and more, but never acted on it. Then, one day while hanging out with the couple, she starts playing 'footsies' with me at the table.  the guy eventually left the table to take the dog outside, and she kissed me.  Now she wants to come over while he's at work to 'talk'.  Turns out she's had a crush on me all this time too, and liked me more and more as we hung out.

yeah, I don't the husband/friend would consent to this.  I just went through a divorce about a year ago, and as I talked to him about it, he'd say stuff like "if my wife ever cheated on me, I'd get a divorce and burn the house down with all her crap in it" in one of those half joking/half serious ways.

I suppose it depends on your personality. My rule of thumb is that unless the girl is some once in a lifetime opportunity (Scarlett Johannsen,Beyonce, Qi Shu) then I will pass.
