yes, that is my overall reaction as well. kind of scary really.  surely he cant _really_ believe that he is doing gods work?  its easier to think of him as being deliberately criminal than it is to believe that he actually _is_ sufficiently deluded that he thinks imprisoning people without trial and torturing them is gods work.

"Awakenings" seem to be a purely American concept and I'm sort of unsurprised and disappointed that George III somehow doesn't count the big one that started in the 1960's
