If the take-away was to learn something about Leibniz's monads, hmm, I think I know how English-language students make fun of this Continental thinker's ideas ('infertile!'). If the take-away was "plus ca change". Well, yes I agree -- humans haven't really evolved on the idea spectrum much. The main problems of philosophy and attitudes toward them have been discussed for thousands of years (Leibniz's monadism is similar to Democritus's atomicism, epsecially the spirtual angle). If the take-away wasn't to have take-aways, almost accomplished. :) |
