I'm a lurking COT lover, and prefer to post anonymously. I'd just like to say that I support COT and would be saddened if some of the frequent posters moved to the Vanilla or whatever other forum.

My day at the office usually start with COT, and then some more COT during lunchtime, and during 4 pm. When I'm browsing at home I sometimes read it again, just checking for topics which has many postings.

I post under a pseudonym and without an email address, so I won't be getting any invites to the new (apparently super-secret) forum.

IIRC, Vanilla can be set up to only allow Lurking *ahm* ReadOnly to certain users.

Read only by non-users? No, never.

Stephen - you can't apply on the homepage to join, it prompts you for your invite code.

set up one of the "contact us" addons, and expose that to non users.

Then they can use that to apply.

Wouldn't letting people invite themselves defeat the purpose of having an invite-only forum?

I was a member of http://www.asmallworld.net in the early days.

Then it got big. Really quickly. It was never the same after that. People were inviting everyone.

Have not logged in in over a year. Grrrr.
