Room-size air conditioners?
Anyone have any experience using a room-sized A/C unit at home? I work at home and have a bunch of servers in my study, so it gets really warm in here. I *really* want to stop keeping the whole freaking house cold so I'm comfortable - I'd rather let the house go warm and just cool off this one room.
Cheap solution: Did you try blocking part of the vents in the other rooms to force more air into your study?
Note that this will put a heavier load on the blower motor in your A/C unit.

Use window air conditioners all the time in Saudi. Can be noisy so check out noise level (Toshiba apparently make the quietest) and a split version will be more aesthetic.

BTW, this is in the basement. :)
I do have two small windows near the ceiling - my main fear there is that they're at ground level outside, and the possibility of getting water inside during heavy rainstorms.
Get a two-parter, punch a small hole in the wall for the tubing and seal it.
Hell, I'm sure a single-piece window mount AC, installed properly, seals well enough.
Enough servers to warm up a basement, and the air conditioning required to cool it off.
How's the wiring in your house?

Put the servers in a room you want to keep warm. Win-win as you'll save HVAC costs and it will be quieter for you as well.

They're in the closet of my study. I'm not moving a 250lb rack again.
I'd much rather move two 125 lb racks, personally.
