Is the new CoT source code on SF yet?

I want a no-registration forum that can kill the spammers, and the new ban feature looks promising.

1. no registration forum
2. dead spammers

My current no-registration forum is overrun by spammers so I set it to "moderator approval only" and my moderation queue is probably close to a thousand threads by now.

Wayne, please indicate a followup post.  I have no idea what your post is in reference to.

I'm trying to merge my local repository with the sourceforge one and I'm not having much luck "Access scheme mixtures are not yet supported"

Bugger.

Anyway, after hacking my working copy, I got the latest FruitShow up on sourceforge.  Get a subversion client and download it.

Works, except it thinks it's installed on the root of the server and anytime I try to do anything, it sends me to a file that doesn't exist, and the CSS files it tries to load don't exist.

My auto-detection code wasn't working so well so I took it out.  It'll get put back in once I can figure out a reliable way to get that information.

It would be great if you could delete threads directly from the thread list instead of having to go in to each. Makes cleanup a lot easlier.

Well normally you want to read the post before deleting it.

What would be really nice is a "select all" checkbox system, then I could just scroll through and see what was keepable.

That reminds me. What prevents spammers from overloading someone's inbox via the email form?

Nothing.  I haven't done a lot around here for spam preventation because we just don't get any spam.  We used to get a spam a month for a while but it's all but completely stopped down.

Hmm, my old forum has a ban & censor list. I wonder how much more usable it would have been if I'd remembered that.

Yeah... that's what I meant by 'may be' - as in, it may become important that I do it.

The spam is funny.

"PS: Where i can read forum rules or somebody show me link to forum FAQ. Thanks."

And one about only abusing "abandoned internet properties" and to email them if I wanted them to stop spamming me.

I feel your pain mark.  its as if they are saying one thing and doing another.  it takes a special kind of person to behave like that, dont you agree?

The Bayesian filter Joel uses is fairly effective at getting Spam.

You might have to buy a copy of FogBuz though.

Yeah, $100 seems excessive for a forum package. Not that I've never been tempted. And then to make anyone else a moderator, you have to pony up again? Ouch.

I should say, though, that I own a licensed copy of vBulletin, but that was because it was the only forum package that worked with another piece of software I was using.
