Ah, this will make the lakeshore real-estate interests here in Michigan happy. There's been a very noisy group who has wanted to assert exclusive property rights to the shoreline of the great lakes, effectively making walking on the beach trespassing unless you happen to own the particular patch you're walking on.
Needless to say this has been a non-starter with the entire tourism industry and the governor who's been promoting tourism since she came into office. Since the base entry price for great lakes property starts at around a quarter of a million dollars, this plan would effectively limit use of the lakes to the comfortably well off. |
