Anybody understand the reddit voting system?
I just posted something, it currently has a zero rating/score.
But somehow it dropped my main score down to 41 from 43, a drop of -2 karma for one single post?
post a link to it, we'll mod it up. reddit and digg are all about groups giving their members a pat on the back. everything else is a mystery.

"Actually, I wish reddit could post a large datafile or something similar that had all there data in one place. Past Links, comments, scores. Would be great for research and not as gung-hoe as an AOL type corp."
No as gung-hoe? Waa?

"gung ho"
AOL posted their user search queries. Everybody bitched and moaned about it. They retracted the information. Reddit could get away with posting their information because they only have like 3 employees.
Hmmm. Did you do anything with the AOL data?

Downloaded it and unzipped it?
So you must be pretty excited about the chance to download and unzip the reddit search data too.

But we have to break the system first!!! Revolution!!!
Bot - as I understand it all votes are taken equally for the points of the post but the karma of the voter is taken into account when calculating the effect on your karma.
This means that if some users with good karma vote you down but other users without much karma vote you up you can end up with a post with +ve points that has a -ve effect on your karma (and vice versa, of course).
