During the first Gulf War in 1991, Chris Wallace reported from Tel Aviv on the Iraqi Scud missiles attacks. At the time, the Israeli Government did not want to advertise where the Scuds landed, in order to prevent the Iraqis from making adjustments to their launchers. On one episode of Nightline, Wallace started describing the location in Tel Aviv where a Scud missile landed. Nightline's host Ted Koppel cut him off, respecting Israeli national security needs.

Days After 9/11 Commission Testimony, Wallace Doesn’t Ask Rice About Infamous PDB
-
USS Cole was bombed on October 12, 2000. As Clinton noted in his interview with Fox, “The CIA and the FBI refused to certify that Bin Laden was responsible” until early 2001 which foreclosed the possibility of a full response during his administration.

The Bush administration, on the other hand, had 8 months prior to 9/11/01 to respond to the USS bombing and did nothing.

In an interview to air Sunday, Fox News Host Chris Wallace asked Bill Clinton why he didn’t respond to the USS Cole. Clinton said it was a “legitimate question” but challenged Wallace: “I want to know how many people in the Bush administration you asked why didn’t you do anything about the Cole.” First, Wallace responded, “we asked.” When pressed further by Clinton, Wallace demurred: “I — with Iraq and Afghanistan there’s plenty of stuff to ask.”

BTW, I think the conservatives are complete idiots to actually try to confront Clinton on his "failures" in office. IMHO it shows either they are actually stupid, they're not paying attention, or they are believing their own press (or all three)

Seriously - if you're a Bush supporter, the last thing in the world you want to do right now is set up a situation where he's compared to Clinton. Things were okay for the Republicans on the Clinton front letting him fade into post-Presidency foreign policy obscurity and letting people remember him as "the impeached President". Giving him a forum to come out and speak on 9/11 and the mideast is just going to throw a sharp spotlight on how big a clown GWB is.

"Oh, wait - Clinton got elected on his charisma didn't he? Oh SNAP!"

Chris Wallace really is scum.  Clinton just handed it to him.  Ouch.

By the facts, it might seem unwise to compare Bush, who did essentially nothing on terror before 9-11, to Clinton, who formed the Bin Laden unit in the CIA.

However, it's about spin.

Recall that the Republican spin machine convinced Americans that John Kerry, who recieved 5 medals for combat in Vietnam, was less able to lead a country during war than Bush-Cheney, both of whom could have served and didn't.

That was awesome. It was interesting just to watch the body language. Clinton had to move around a lot in order to get the upper hand, and by the end when he had it, he was finally able to sit back & just watch the guy squirm.

He needs longer socks, though. All that shifting around in the seat, you got to see some leg & that's just no presidential.

Listening to Clinton speak, and then listening to George W Bush... man.. there's no comparison at all.  It's like GWB is autistic, or some sort of half-aware vegetable.

I saw a video somewhere where someone surmised he was in early stages of dementia.

Has anyone ever suggested that maybe he was out a bit longer than anyone let on when he choked on that pretzel?
