In Soviet Russia, fruitshow posts you.secret Soviet code
I was going to make a New Zealand/Australia upside-down text joke, but Ukraine is in the northern hemisphere.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrillic It seems it's all the fault of two byzantine monks. > It seems it's all the fault of two byzantine monks.
It makes my floors shiny, so it's not all bad. On the plus side, if you know the greek alphabet, you can pretty much figure out how the Cyrillic letters sound. And for Russian, there aren't (to a first approximation) any compound sounds - you don't have things light ght in light, gh in though, th in though either. You more or less sound out each letter. e.g. PECTOPAH
I don't like that so few letters use ascenders. It makes the lines look very blockish and uniform. With Roman letters, often one can grab words by the overall up and down shape before even parsing down to the individual letters.
Nice of them to leave in the link at the bottom & even translate the blurbage.
I'm coming from that other forum running fruitshow. The software is pretty amazing and thank you for sharing it with us, I always liked the JoS forums and if I will set up any boards in future, I'm quite sure I'll use fruitshow (another good pick is a PubBB)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PunBB
"PunBB is a fast and lightweight PHP-powered discussion board. It is released under the GNU General Public License. Its primary goals are to be faster, smaller and less graphically intensive as compared to other discussion boards. PunBB has fewer features than similar software, but is generally faster and outputs smaller, semantically correct XHTML and CSS compliant pages." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FruitShow Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name. Please search for FruitShow in Wikipedia to check for alternative titles or spellings. http://www.soderlind.no/images/AP_Aksimet_Spam.png
Ooooh anti spam measures. I wonder if Wayne could get some momentum behind fruitshow if he created some sort of plugin architecture. |
