Cancelled TV Shows
Well, the news is in, and over at ABC it's a blood-bath.
Check it out: http://www.tvsquad.com/2011/05/16/canceled-tv-shows-2011/
'V' is gone (good riddance) as is "No Ordinary Family" (a show with a GREAT idea that never could gain traction). Mr. Sunshine (yay) is gone -- too bad, I kinda liked that one.
In the good news -- 'Castle' and 'Chuck' have apparently survived. So has ABC's "Wipeout", which I'm fond of.

I have a bit of appreciation for "V" - for network TV it was fairly good, even if some of the characters and settings devolved into cliches'.
I am suffering from "story arc interruptus" which has gotten chronic with prime time teevee. As soon as I give half a shit about a series, it's canceled. I don't even want to follow a series unless it's been on for 3+ years and I can watch re-runs to catch up. It's not worth it.

No Ordinary Family is gone? Shit. I liked that and it ended with a big cliffhanger.
Chuck on the other hand is still a piece of shit, it's the one that's not gaining any traction.

Exactly. Of course, this creates a bad cycle of shows getting cancelled because viewers were too worried about to being cancelled.

At least "Wipe Out" remains.
Because there's nothing better than watching strangers get seriously hurt.

I've seen all of V (well as much has been broadcast in the UK), which is very unusual for me, and some of the Event.
I'm sort of pissed about V, but now I know, I don't know if I'll bother to watch the remaining episodes. What's the point?
The Event, well it was rubbish anyway.
What pisses me off about these shows is they're for the most part too damned slow, and half-the-time they're playing hide the ball anyway - by which I mean, is that the mystery element often comes from showing you the story in bits or in the wrong order, rather than being genuine challenges that the characters have to face. So yeh there's fucking aliens, but rather than developing the mystery from that, the series will fuck around with showing you events out of sequence or whatever.

The only show I watched on the canceled list was V. I like most of it.
I've recorded Chuck this season, but haven't had the stomach to watch more than a couple of them so far. I wouldn't care if they canceled it.

Friday Night Lights :-(

>>'Better With You'
This show had some good moments. I enjoyed it the few times I watched it. I just never felt like I *needed* to watch it. The writing had nowhere to go.
Also, some funny moments. The show was trying too hard to be 30 Rock, though. Matthew Perry cannot carry a show.
>>'No Ordinary Family'
Not sure why I wasn't hooked in. This is precisely the type of show I'd like and all the actors were good. Maybe not enough hot chicks? Poor choice of villains? Slow start? I only got to episode 4.
>>'V', 'The Event'
Pure shite. Fucking terrible waste of big budgets.
This is sad. I actually like the characters. Unfortunately, the writing got terrible and uninspired. Borderline racist at times.
>>'Lie to Me'
Good show, good actors. Poor appeal.
Didn't this show have a series finale? Is that a cancellation?

The big problem with "No Ordinary Family" is that having found they had "powers", they THEN went around both trying to HIDE that they had "powers", while NOT USING those "powers" themselves. That, and one of the children finding they DID have powers but trying to hide that from everyone.
This on-again, off-again, "Oh, I'm a hero" but "Oh, I SHOULDN'T be a hero", "Oh, honey, did you save somebody AGAIN (in tones of exasperation)" "Oh, I'm TRAINING to be a hero", but "Oh, honey, you've been TRAINING again?" -- it got old very quickly.

Ah... the show lacked authenticity.
Obviously, if you have powers, you'd use (abuse) them.

OK, I finally watched the last two episodes of Chuck. It did improve with those two episodes. However, you had to know background from a bunch of dud episodes.
The finale then puts them in a new situation at the end. It's a bit contrived though.

"Obviously, if you have powers, you'd use (abuse) them."
They've been struggling with that part of it in the show.
It did start slow and the dad's power was kind of boring I think was why it didn't pick up share. It was never bad though and improved as it went along. The finale set up the next season to be fun, with a supervillian creating scores of ultra bad guys for them to battle.

Too late, though, isn't it?

I stopped watching the Event towards the end of last year.
The bits with Blaire Underwood were not bad. Most of the FBI officers were not bad. Most of the aliens were not too bad.
The couple with the younger sister that got kidnapped though, were a different story. Their acting was so bad I felt like bricking the screen every time they came on.
And after about 6 episodes, it sort of became clear that the story was going nowhere.
PigPen (ex ....)

Right, there will be no resolution unless there is a film, which is unlikely.
They had no idea they were going to be cancelled when they filmed the last episode.
