Well, yes, that is how one would cross the street in Mumbai as well, just less motorcycles and more rickshaws.

Crossing in Vietnam isn't actually that hard (or scary) once you realize that the motorcycles will avoid you.
First time you do it, though, it's fucking terrifying.
