How anarchy triumphs over oligarchy
I have just noticed a difference between the regular forum and either here, ?off or some differently similar place; and that's that whereas whenever Joel publishes a new screed or some meme infects a bunch of people there are a rash of posts all on the same topic one after another and largely regurgitating the same kinds of views and opinions, whereas in the 'anarchic' fora a topic will drift a considerable way but you won't have scads of me too new posts or even me too comments.
It seems the point of ?joel is to get your name on the main page as the OP, to appear to be the opinion former or the driver of content.
Alternatively, you get the occasional day when muppet gets manic.
But at least I'm entertaining whilst those dudes on ?joel are boring as shit and just looking for some free publicity for either their business or their e-penis.
Perhaps we should mine the archive to see if there's some pattern to manic muppet mode?

Well that's more or less what I implied, muppet, you don't have to make everything obvious.
No it seems like you were implying that I'm the balancing drawback to ?off in the way that the blowhards are the drawback to ?joel.
:-)
Can we learnt he difference between "I inferred X" and "You implied X"? It's subtle, but quite significant.
I know the difference Mat and I said precisely what I meant to say.
Ass goblin.
I'm sure Mr. Spolsky will be having a huge laugh at our expense, with every 2nd or 3rd post here and over at E being about him. We formed, we were kicked out, we re-formed. Now the time is to reform.

Seeing as we were booted to the curb by the eminent Mr Spolsky it's only natural that he should be discussed for a time. I've no doubt that the Joel discussion will eventually peter out as he becomes very boring.
Of course, I wonder whether some of the comments, even derogatory ones, are being planted by Joel and Co on this board. :-)
I can see it at the moment, but perhaps the mods are all in the loo.
The mods seem to have had a bit of a fight earlier - that whole thread was there, then it disappeared (so it wasn't the bayesian filter), and then it reappeared again.

I'm 100% certain that NOTHING I post to ?joel makes it, so I hardly bother any longer.
Your post in the speed of development thread (one about cock size comparisons) stayed around, at least until the whole thread was nuked.

Ta ever so.
Well those fights could be a single individual having second thoughts there were a couple of posts I deleted, reestablished, deleted and then reestablished again all in the space of a few minutes.
Interesting how Joel bolstered up his moderators as he gave us the boot. Those mods are like the hallway monitors. They're the security standing by as you pack up your belongings after a "downsizing".

I wonder if they have instructions to terminate ?off'ers on sight. :) I'm sure Albert would LOVE that.
He would possibly (after all he thinks he's a billG lookalike) but I can't see Li Fan or Stephen being like that. I think Joel just went for a geographic spread.
Albert is such a funny guy. That guy cracks me up. Really. I really get a lift when I see (at least after scrolling down for four minutes) that Albert popped into a thread.

There's only one explanation for Albert.
