Yahoo email is strange
I get tons of spam and it's all related to this stupid investment sort of thing - stock investment.
That's not the interesting part (although I do mark it as spam). The interesting part is that a couple of them have come in marked as 2005 in their date.
Doesn't Yahoo check the friggin' date. I mean, damn Sam.

It does check the date. Then it puts it into your inbox. What would you like it to do? Notify Jack Bauer and CSU, Los Angles?

It does check the date on the email. What I want it to do is to get off it's tush and look at it's own system-time (w/date), and use that instead.
I get that stuff but it's almost always in the Bulk folder so I don't see it. I guess I don't check my yahoo mail all that often. Maybe if you wait longer, other people mark it as spam and then it gets sorted for you? Not sure if that's how yahoo works.

2005? My wife gets tons of spam to her yahoo account, and most of it is dated 1905.

lol. Yeah, I don't know either, I think it's built for speed. ;-)
If you were a spammer and wanted your spam to stand out in a chronological list, what would you do?

It also makes it trivially easy to identify and delete. In addition to the spam, she gets lots of bulk mail she did sign up for and sometimes a good special will show up. So we check the Yahoo spam a bit to make sure we don't miss anything. But with so much of it dated 1905-2006, it's easy to clean out. Then there are the ones dated 2010...

Sure, but they're going after the segment of the market that doesn't notice.
Hey, if you send out 6 billion spam mails a day, you get plenty of opportunity to experiment with different methods of attack, and each one only has to work a small percentage of the time.
