Dems Propose Pullout in 2008

Democratic leaders in the House and Senate began a new legislative push today for the withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq in 2008, coalescing behind a fixed timetable to end the war for the first time since assuming power.

I wonder if that is 'by' 2008 or beginning in 2008.  If it is beginning, hell that means it will probably take a year to pull out everyone.  Bush's term will be over by then.

One proposal is by September 2008 (conveniently BEFORE the election and the new President has to deal with it).  Another proposal is April 2008.

The Republicans are back harping on "Support The Troops!".  Which is disingeneous -- the Dems ARE supporting the troops, they're trying to get them OUT of the middle of a cultural civil war!

I mean, the Republicans have shot down every proposal for ANY 'progress oriented metric' as 'helping the terrorists'.  This wouldn't be a problem, except it really looks after all this time as if the Republicans HAVE NO 'progress oriented' anything.  They sound willing to commit to "whatever it takes, however long it takes" -- and spending hundreds of billions and losing American lives in the process.

This isn't "don't support the terrorists", this is "don't look behind that curtain".  And it's sounding increasingly hollow.
