Gingrich a Fucking Hypocrite

"There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There's certainly times when I've fallen short of God's standards."

The world of spin as the primary reality is so maddening.

At least he has self knowledge.

If he had self knowledge then he wouldn't be a git in the first place. Looking in the mirror after slicing your face with a razor isn't self knowledge.

Jean Baudrillard died recently.

Hi, honey, how's your cancer. Oh, good. Can we get a divorce?

"His first marriage, to his former high school geometry teacher, Jackie Battley, ended in divorce in 1981. Although Gingrich has said he doesn't remember it, Battley has said Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was recuperating in the hospital from cancer surgery."

SoP, I don't see in the article where Gingrich lied about it under oath - could you quote that bit for me?

What does that have to do with him being a hypocrite? The investigation had nothing to do with the lying. It was a sex scandal leveraged to topple Clinton.

Uh, the investigation was into perjury.

This is why spin works so well. You are confusing the shiny thing in front of your face with the purpose. Do you really think they cared about Clinton having sex? And that's why Clinton was being questioned. The point was to topple Clinton. For Clinton to tell the truth to his enemies would be pure madness.

I'm not confusing anything. I know very well that it was a right wing hit job. Nevertheless, the investigation was into perjury.

The people who carried out the attack were interested in the end, rather than the means and the means was the legal means to take him down through him lying about his affair.

The right wing base is all about family values, etc. though - THEY care.

Lying was actually more mad - it played right into their hands.

The sane move would've been to say "none of your business". Eventually it would've blown over.

The Starr investigation?  Wasn't it into Whitewater?

I know he lied under oath in Starr.  Did he in Whitewater?

I thought divorces were at-will, no-fault in the US. Are we required either by law or public condemnation to last 'till death do we part' business?

I think Starr was tasked with investigating whitewater, then got permission from justice to extend to monica.

ratty,

The divorce is Ok.  Brining it up with the lady in the hospital after cancer surgery?  Priceless.

Yes.  They do.  It's institutionalized.  Their teachers did it to them, so they do it to their students.

It's like child abuse that way.

Sure, that's why Gingrich is so popular. If he was a dem he would be demonized. They don't care.

Jesus is dead set against divorce. So if you are a Christian one might not think it's OK. But I forget, Christ is just a statue and the bible is just a bunch of saying to mine for justifications that confirm doing what you will.

Well priceless is bringing it up *before* surgery.

After she's had a successful surgery and recuperating ... what's wrong again with saying "Honey, now that you're better I'd like to discuss the future with you"?

or "the future without you"?

"Marianne and Newt divorced in December, 1999 after Marianne found out about Newt's long-running affair with Callista Bisek, his one-time congressional aide. Gingrich asked Marianne for the divorce by phoning her on Mother's Day, 1999."

He wasn't so good to the second one either! Happy Mother's Day!
