Y'all are a bunch of wankers!

DST bugs

All large Rational ClearCase sites apparently went down yesterday at 4am that were doing multi-site replication.  Seems to have been the result of the DST time-change, or the patch they issued for the DST change.

Ooops.

Microsoft had a problem with Exchange and DST.  The update for DST was rolled into a hotfix.  All Exchange hotfixes include all the previous hotfixes.  One of those previous hotfixes broke exchange - the mailbox databases wouldn't mount - for many sites.  There were workarounds, and it only took them about a week to fix the hotfix, but still...  a required update breaking the system is a bad thing.

To distract the American population from the real issues would be my guess.  It's been truly annoying.

There's a safety aspect too -- people are used to changing their smoke-detector batteries at the regular DST change, and now the usage periods will be lopsided.

It's all a vast conspiracy by arsonists then.
