Who is paying for this free advertising for a corporate product? Is that why I have to pay more and more for stamps? To pay for corporate advertising?
What makes you think the advertising was free?

OK, so how much did Lucas pay for the advertising, and how much is it costing the postal service to replace all these mailboxes?
I think the really important question is "who cares about R2D2 24 years after the last good Star Wars movie?"

And how much mail is going to be lost when these are stolen or destroyed? (Pictures a Sith army maiming mailboxes all across America.)

Nah, the first three, in their original form, were good, solid Science Fiction/space opera - a grand story. Unfortunately, Lucas discovered around 1990 that he was out of ideas and started screwing around with his fifteen minutes of fame.

Ok, I guess the first TWO were OK. Not great, but decent. Kind of slow paced at first, but ok. Once the got those damn talking dancing singing care bears though, it was just stupid, and went downhill from there.
Oh agreed 100%. I commented to Mark the other day that you could probably make a better movie out of RotJ by just editing out the bear scenes.
