1. I accept that I am under the control of a higher power (Muppet).

jesus apple, if you dont want me to use the fucking thing...

...dont give it to me.

Part Itunes user agreement:

"1. General.  The software, documentation and any fonts accompanying this License whether on disk, in read only memory, on any other media or in any other form (collectively the "Apple Software") are licensed, not sold, to you by Apple Inc. ("Apple") for use only under the terms of this License, and Apple reserves all rights not expressly granted to you. The rights granted herein are limited to Apple's and its licensors' intellectual property rights in the Apple Software and do not include any other patents or intellectual property rights. You own the media on which the Apple Software is recorded but Apple and/or Apple's licensor(s) retain ownership of the Apple Software itself. The terms of this License will govern any software upgrades provided by Apple that replace and/or supplement the original Apple Software product, unless such upgrade is accompanied by a separate license in which case the terms of that license will govern.  "

Ive never read it before.  Hell, I dont think ive read an actual User Agreement right the way through ever.

but seriously, I read that first paragraph and the first thing I think is "fuck you then".

if they want to limit my rights to the software so fucking badly, why give it to me in the first place.

its funny, more and more Im going off this shit.  companies that are so desperate not to give a single thing to their customers that they try and bind them up tighter and tighter.

Ive agree to that fucking itunes agreement maybe 15 times, once for every upgrade, yet when I turn it down now...bang, my ability to use itunes is gone for good.

fuck you apple.  you want to reserve your rights to the software I use?  dont let me use it.*

roll on linux.

* hyperbole only, no intention to actually stop using mac os x intended or implied.  but the day is getting closer.

The first para just says 'don't, like, rip off our documentation and make it into a blog' and 'don't use our images and icons -- even if you scraped them off the screen or out of video RAM -- in your own programs'.

And the license upgrade biz is like class inheritance and stuff.

seems reasonable.

I don't see the problem with the license. It just says the software is licensed not sold, which is usually true for all software that you don't commission yourself.

Pretty common.
And one of the reasons for the existence of OSS.
