Nail biting = Common cold?

I think I must get sick 6-8x a year.  I'm in very good shape, eat properly, don't take uh, ``physical risks'', but pretty much every 1.5-2 months I end up with some kind of cold/flu.

Is it because I'm a nail-biter?

No, I used to bite my nails for years and I never had that problem.

Why don't you stop worrying and stop biting? It looks so much better

Wash your hands more often.
Not in an OCD sense, but 1-2 times extra each day would probably help.

Also, avoid children and people with children.  They're little germ factories.

The OP doesn't wash his hands after going to the WC? Aren't you going to the WC 5-8 times a day? If not, drink more water. (Could be the water itself. Makes the skin nice and soft too.)

Check your teeth for hidden deep infection.
That's one of the most common reasons, and it doesn't have anything to do with if you brush them or not, it can happen anyway. I know. It can be the result of an earlier sinus infection.

Yes. And so does masturbating.

i'm a big time nail biter, and I almost never catch colds, despite living with a preschool teacher.

As for not washing after using the WC, that's e coli, not the common cold.

I think colds depend a lot on where you live. Believe it or not the place where you catch more than anywhere else is Saudi Arabia!

I was just saying if you drink a lot and wash up after every visit, you wash away all the germs 6-8 times a day. Not just E Coli, but all the hand-shaking, door-touching, ass-slapping germs that are so easy to transfer from one person to another during the course of a normal day.

just soap too, none of that bacteria-zapping foam crap.

and oh yeah ... must always dry hands. It's better not to wash at all than to leave a bathroom with wet hands.

Some people just have better immune systems, too.

Well, I ride the subway every day too.  Coming in contact with that world plus nail biting...
