Ive been blind in one eye for years, but the last week Ive had an infection in the other apparently..just went to the doctor today.
Im always paranoid about my last eye, I have this feeling I will miss it deeply when it goes.
so Im taking the rest of the day off from work. fuck it.
Funny you should say that -- I woke up this morning, and my left eye was red and the pupil was constricted.
I panicked, in a very slow and methodical way, getting to the emergency room around 8:30. By 2:00 they'd checked my blood pressure every hour on the hour. I'd been examined, the eye checked out with 3 different pieces of high-tech gear, my nerve reflexes checked out, and to top it all off my head was CAT scanned. Tomorrow or the next day they say they'll MRI me.
Is this "pupil constriction" normal for some disease or other? I'd hate it if this was the first warning I have for brain surgery...

Thanks for the links -- now I know what the hell they were looking for with all their instruments, and what diseases are easily ruled out at this point.
The good news -- most of the disasterous outcomes have been ruled out. The bad news -- they still don't know what's causing it.
My personal theory at this point is a mild viral infection which is making the iris close slightly more than it needs to. The eye itself is still slightly reddened.
But more testing is needed. Thanks again.

Not just strain?
My eyes do that when I look at screens too long. Which one it is can vary... But I always wake up with more eye crud than usual, one is reddened more than the other, and it always seems darker if I close the 'good' one.

Could be eye-strain, that would be very comforting. Though it's the second day now, and the problem is still there.
