RIP Philo

good, simple, php based opensource bug tracking app?

it just needs support for image and binary uploads, some basic bug tracking stuff and some communication around each bug.

the simpler the better.

any recommendations?

If you can obviate the php part, I seriously can recommend trac. Is python based, and is pretty easy to use. If you use it in a debian based system, the installation is as easy as

aptitude install trac

the simplest and cleanest by far that I found is mantis.

It's (assuming you already have apache/php running) a 20 minute install - just unzip into a dir and edit the config file - and the interface is very nice indeed. The feature set seems about perfect - lets you classify bugs in lots of ways,  get reports and all that, but not too much crap you don't want.

I found trac a bit of a fiddle by comparison.

Not much of a blessing. Is this black magic?
