RIP Philo

All new loathing for John Bolton

I didn't like the guy to start with, but this elevates him to new heights of ickyness:

I saw him in person, totally randomly TWICE last week. Not once, but TWICE!

both times I was downtown washington DC, on connecticut ave NW near M street.

I was really tempted to do a Donald Trump impersonation and yell "You're Fired" as he walked past. But I didn't.

That's nice, thanks for posting that video.

One problem of mainstream journalism today is they take themselves far too seriously. Rather than be impartial, they take a side and become a True Believer for one side or the other.

Another problem is that most mainstream TV journalists are picked for speaking voice and hair rather than because they do any original research themselves.

Having trained professional comedians take over journalism is the best thing that's happened to the media in centuries.

That's bollocks. They attempt to be far *too* evenhanded to the point where they give equal airtime and respect to those who are lying and those who are telling the truth.

So? All they do is read a teleprompter. The journalism is done by the smart ugly people behind the scenes.

Exactly. They'll put some whacko on stage because there has to be "balanced" which is the only reason that creationists and global warming deniers get airtime.

Silly. There is no evidence of long term global warming.

wow, good interview thanks philo.

bolton is interesting, I cant tell whether he is intelligent or not from that.  I guess thats a part of being a diplomat.  Im willing to assume he is.

taking what he said at face value its an interesting look at the current administration.  they genuinely think that people who are 'reality based' (in their words) are actually idealogically driven. in their eyes they weren't told by the state department they needed 500000 men because they needed them.  they were told that because those doing the planning were idealogically blinded to the possibility of being successful with only 100000.  they weren't firing those attorneys because they were doing a good job at investigating republicans, they were firing them because the attorneys were too blinded by their idealogical beliefs against the current administration.

that interview speaks very clearly about why the gcurrent administration is politicising the entire political system...its because in their eyes it already _is_ politicised, and against them.

people who disagree with them are genuinely seen as being idealogically driven instead of having a different point of view.

its like looking into a giant distortion mirror and seeing yourself reflected back as a grotesque caricature.

interesting and genuinely scary.

its just a shame they have been so wrong throughout their rule, or maybe we would be willing to cut them a little slack.

Wow.  That idea that "reality itself seems to have a liberal bias" keeps coming up.

It's like the 2 idiots who work here. They keep complaining that they are doing the work of 5 engineers and we should hire more. I tell them they just need to work more unpaid overtime. Their ideas about needing more workers are not reality based, they are based on their preconceptions that 5 engineers are needed.

If *I* saw Bolton in public, I'd run up and shake his hand and tell him what a great job he's done as commissioner and that I hope he and Batman clean up DC real soon.

Strange how pretty well every scientific body disagrees with you.

Yes, there IS evidence of long-term global warming.  The permafrost isn't defrosting on its own, you know.

What's questionable (a little) is why it's happening.  And what's really questionable is -- is this really a bad thing?

So all those conclusions that WE'RE doing it (us humans) and WE MUST STOP RIGHT NOW, and even better -- how much is appropriate to pay to stop it? -- are kind of up in the air.

But Global Warming itself is DEFINITELY happening.

Notlob has a small part (playing himself) 41:50 into this:

Warning. Contains the acutely irritating John Pilger. Watch the whole thing if you have the stomach.
