So who here...
knows about CPU/RAM/FSB clock rates and their subtle interplay?
Particularly, the effect of synchronizing RAM with the CPU?
The rage in overclocking Core2 Duo's seems to be raising the FSB clock rate and unlinking the RAM so it can run at a lower clock rate as it might not handle the FSB overclock speeds.
The cheaper core2's have a locked multiplier, so you cannot oc them in the more traditional manner. Instead, people are raising the FSB speeds.
I want to know, in particular, the effect of running the RAM in a de-linked state of a different unsychronized clock speed with the CPU.
It seems to me that keeping the clock ratio 1:1 would be better for real world performance than desynching, even if it does mean you can't push your CPU benchmark as high as possible.

I find it easier just to dress in black. No complicated decisions.

I ask some geeky stuff that nobody would care about and the only two responses are our resident token chicks flirting.

Our resident token GAY chicks flirting. And you say that like it's a BAD thing?
What are your priorities anyway?

Uhm, building this badassed machine with glowing blue lights and making it run a lot faster than its already ridiculously fast speed.
You saying they are misplaced or something?
Does anyone know anything about shorting a power supply? Like so that it thinks it is plugged into a mobo that just had the power button pressed?

Yes, we're gonna have to go right to ludicrous speed
Sadly, after all this time, I think the answer to all your questions, JoC, are "no, nope, sorry no, and I wouldn't do that (re: the overclocking), so no."
I'd hoped somebody else could give you a better answer, but it's the end of the day, and apparently not.
However, you did trigger a short but hot interchange, so I think this thread has been worth it. Perhaps not to YOU, but the rest of us have been mildly entertained.

It was purely intentional.
