Y'all are a bunch of wankers!

if you're not into something...

... like Britney, or Hip Hop, or NASCAR.  Why not ignore it instead of denouncing it?  I find a lot of "oooh Britney is such trash" people who recognize her photo and music.

Discuss!

I'm not into Britney but everywhere I look I see her ugly goddamn dwarf-blonde shape. Actually I find the new mad-psycho-bitch phase more interesting than her prior incarnations.

But -- I *am* into Britney, and sadly I think she *has* proved herself trailer-trash.

It's sad that our culture has this conflict which makes a sexy virgin sell coca-cola, but when she actually has sex and children the entertainment machine stops celebrating them and starts tearing them down.

Well, that, and the fact that whatever else our culture celbrates, we do like to at least pretend that marriage, true love, and commitment are important things.

And Britney has kind of lost it where all three are concerned.  Thus the trailer-trash label.

Let's discuss Anna Nicole Smith instead.  She is arguably more stimulating, more interesting, and actually accomplished a Supreme Court audience.

Yes, but she's gone and buried.  So I guess we're not going to get any new news out of her.  So she's so "last week".

Well Hilary Swank grew up in a trailer park but I wouldn't call her trailer trash. Britney on the other hand seems to be priming herself for the Jerry Springer show.

Hey, to each their own...

The meta-blogosphere is still like the C-movie version of E!

That may be a foot on your toes if you choose to take it that way. It is no less true though.

I'd rather play a game, make fun of me for that. I don't mind. At least doing that, my own actions are directly relevant to the experience.

Bonus points if you can denounce it as more pitiful than gossiping about people over a medium that is the epitome of hearsay.

Stop looking.  While you were watching her on VH1 Celeb's Gone Wild, I was reading The Count of Monte Cristo.  Her apparently blonde shape didn't make an appearance.

I categorically deny EVER having watched VH1 Celeb's Gone Wild, especially the one they had on Lindsay Lohan last night.

"I find the new mad-psycho-bitch phase more interesting than her prior incarnations."

So it's working! Always glad to have a new fan.

"It's sad that our culture has this conflict which makes a sexy virgin sell coca-cola, but when she actually has sex and children the entertainment machine stops celebrating them and starts tearing them down."

That's true, but only part of the story. We have a culture where fame is more important than intrinsic value. Real intrinsic value, in music, art, literature, film, most any aspect of culture is so out of the equation that most people sneer or shrug internally when you even try to discuss it.

Britney probably had some kind of talent and ability, but when the people around her were quite prepared to whore it off for teh most bucks in the shortest possible time, rather than try to develop her and it into something of lasting value, what chance did she have against that and her own immature lust to win in the fame game.
