Working in New ZealandHey, wSV, can you help this guy? He sounds confused.
http://discuss.joelonsoftware.com/default.asp?joel.3.475298.4 Jesus Allan. What kind of redneck hick are you: "Sorry to be snarky, it's just that the rest of the world would kill to come to America. And here you and your S.O. are prepared to throw away LIVING in America to go to New Zealand."
Come on man....... the mind boggles. He's young and wants a little adventure. I'm so glad my "repost dildo" meme has caught on. I've only been more proud one or two times.
Well, for a moment there, I forgot I was on JoS, and not on CoT.
So my Snarky comment about Hobbits was ripe for deletion, EVEN THOUGH I thought it quite humorous. SO, I gave an apology for my snarky comment (also in a humorous vein) in hopes of forestalling the almost inevitable deletion. Time will tell... It's not your meme, buddy. You said it first, but I'm the one that pushed it. I've gotta get back to trying to get it out there on Usenet or something.
Yeah, I guess Slashdot... It'll get modd'd down, but maybe if I keep trying...
Had to LOL at the idiot who was talking about starting salaries at NZD$35K and rents NZD$300 per week. Yeah, that may be true, but only in what is quite frankly the ugliest, most pretentious, and worst-thought-out-city here. In other centres salaries are higher and rent much cheaper. I suspect that poster has never actually been here in his life...
I meant Auckland, I assumed he did too.
Wellington has *class* (yeah, guess where I'm from) Well, Ward, if he "said it first", I think it's his meme, even if you were the one to push it.
The Wright Brothers got credit for powered flight, EVEN THOUGH it was Curtis who came up with the Aileron. Oh, and the original Wright Flyer flew like serious crap. WAY too sensitive elevator, and a nasty tendency to stall in turns. Fortunatly the wind smashed it after a few flights, and the Brothers were able to improve on the idea over time. Still, LOTS of people pushed the powered-flight 'meme', if you will, but the Wrights get the credit. |
