The article states this is an unknown part of his life, but I had heard of it. It's known as the part of his life during which he was 'a communist' and the FBI watched him very carefully during this time.

The article fails to mention that he was merely promoting the agenda of the Communist Party USA. They make it like it's stuff he made up himself in the article. He wasn't the only one to be promoting this, nor was he the leader.
