This has to be the closest thing to making playoffs in NHL ever
The Islanders were 1 second away from making the playoffs when the Devils scored (at zero seconds the puck has to be across the line). Now it's in OT. If the Devils win, the Islanders are out and Toronto is in. Last day of the NHL season.
If I ever make a good amount of money, I would get sattelite TV with all of the sports stations of other cities. Hockey is not really popular enough in CA to get much TV time outside of the local teams.
I'm going to miss the shootout. Arrgghh! They are both good at shootouts and Islanders have to win it. Listening to it on NHL radio.
Is that cricket or hockey?

Hockey.
It came down to the last possible shot of the shootout, goalie had to make a save. Goalie poked the puck away. wow. The anouncers and goalie went crazy. Now the players are acting serious because they have to play the top seed in the playoffs.
Cricket. Very funny, SoP.

The Carolina Hurricanes just fell apart this year. Can't even point to one particular reason -- they just didn't play well.
Last year: Stanley Cup Champions.
This year: Not even in the playoffs.

Don't kid yourself, they were the same way last year. How many series were they almost put away and with convincing defeats only to say y'know we ought to act like we're getting paid here and start winning. Edmonton had them, but inexplicably Carolina did their wakeup drill, as usual, and won. Underperformed, spoiled, high-maintenance, who knows.
Doesn't your cable company offer the NHL ticket thing? I was under the impression it showed pretty much all the games.

The folks around here were surprised that it went to game seven at all. Everyone was expecting it to be over at game five or so. Edmonton did really well, and Carolina was resting on their laurels. Until the last game.

Carolina is a strange team, they can almost at will keep opponents from scoring during the games that they really want.
I mean, Cole, Eric Staal, that other guy that's been around forever that was with the flyers. I mean, it's kinda scary that they can even make the playoffs, let alone dominate a game.
