The Chinese problem should not be too hard for an A-level maths student, so maybe the problem is that some chemistry students in the UK do not study maths to A level...?
I worked the problem through and everything drops out to nice numbers, so it's not quite as hard as it seems. The only question in my mind is whether there is an easy alternative to using the vector dot product in some steps? (Although the dot product should be known to A level students.) |
