Bush, don't understand
(see my comment)
What is the motivation in the current administration. Get into the head of Bush?
I don't think it is more money (oil), haliburton.
I think at this point, they are trying to stick around so that they avoid something really, really bad occurring during their administration. Basically, a massive cleanup job. They can stay in Iraq for about 300 more days and keep a lock-down on the middle-east and then bail out and leave things screwed up for the next administration.
All the criticism is bad, now. But another 911 would be really bad.
That is what I think is going on.
9/11 had been in the works for quite some time. It was masterminded and engineered by the folks in the New American Century Project (http://www.newamericancentury.org/
). Lee Sigelman in New Republic had specifically mentioned the need to fabricate a terrorist attack on America's soil to justify wars, suspending civil liberties, building secret prisons, torturing innocent people, bombing and killing Moslem's, etc.
I gotta say it was a well planned and executed project.
Mohammad Atta the so called lead hijacker has been seen many times in South America.
There you are ... be a proud American!

Ok, you are a loon, but lets pretend that Bush was head of the NewProject to set off 911 (yea right). What is the motive?
Motif? are you kidding me? how old are you again?

Just use Occams'd razor - it is easy to see the motivation for the US govt to be behind 9/11 or the British govt to be behind 7/7, indeed, many believe that Putin was behind the Chechin bombings. At the end of the day we've got enough real enemies not to need to invent new ones. We're all involved, we're all just about 4 degrees separated rather than directly involved.

The US govt can't even deliver the mail on time, but we're supposed to believe they were behind 9/11. And everyone involved is going to be, and remain for all time, silent on their involvement.

Try reading my post - I said it was easy to see their motivation, not that they did it

Have any of them ever admitted to any wrongdoing at any time? No. So it's easy to imagine they wouldn't leak any information.
The only leaking going on is to damage their opponents, like Joe Wilson. And such leakage is approved from On High.

Bush (and Cheney) are from the Nixonial School of Republicans. Which is, WE (the Nixonian Republicans) are the ONLY ones who can be TRUSTED to keep America safe.
Nixon saw Communism as the big danger, and that the Democrats were riddled with Progressives, Socialists, and Pinko's, if not actual Communists. So he had to do WHATEVER IT TOOK -- bugging people's office, character assassination, subverting the Constitution -- to stay in office.
Bush (and more likely, Cheney) sees Terrorism as the big danger, and that the Democrats are willing to provide WAY more civil rights to people than what can be tolerated in a nation fighting Terrorism. So he has to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to fight terrorism -- illegal wire-taps, promote fraudulent yellow-cake reports, fire judges who are "insufficiently loyal" to the Republican party.
The problem with both of these people is that they think the Constitution is WAY more vulnerable than it is -- AND that they're willing to subvert the Constitution to preserve it. They're blinded by a "Reality Distortion" zone, which says whatever they do is right, and input that disagrees with them is wrong.
So, Bush wanted to put a stable democracy in the Middle-East, to prevent Terrorism. That Iraq cannot BE a stable democracy in a 9-month period was outside his Reality Distortion zone. I'm sure he's very confused by that, confused why the Iraqi's are still fighting, confused why there isn't peace already. So, NOW he's doing the Gambler's Fallacy -- just a LITTLE MORE force will turn this fiasco into a win.
But you can play the Gambler's Fallacy game for a LONG freaking time and lose a LOT of money and lives if you never recognize a lost cause.
