Canadian ice - The real reason for the Iraq warThe Iraq war was to ensure energy security of the U.S. of A. What do you do with all that energy? Why! To melt Canadian ice! Raiding the Canadian Ice Box was the plan 75 years ago. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/29/AR2005122901412_pf.html
Canada has a big navy upgrade plan to defend the North-Western passage against US claims.
Canada regards the passage Canadian, because it is used and occupied by the local population. The USA regards it as international waters. The new fleet will be used to patrol the area and enhance the claim. There is also the potential conflict with Denmark over a little island halfway Greenland and Canada. The real question is if the US invades Canada, which side will Britain fight on?
Whoever gives us the better deal, I hope. Or whoever is most likely to win.
Probably America in that case. > Or whoever is most likely to win.
Traditional British policy is to side with the weaker side in wars, and thus maintain the balance of power. They don't call us perfidious Albion for nothing. |
