8, 8 days until Disney! Ah ha ha!

inside the surge

poor bastards.

interesting note.  a bomb goes off under a bradley, ultimately destroying it.  the GI's arriving on the spot immediately search the nearby houses for the bombmaker.

cause if they were the bomb maker, they would use the bomb right outside their own house.

Amazing video. Thanks.

Not surprised that the soldier's actions are often irrational, given that their lives are under constant threat, and many have seen their comrades killed in action.

The US needs to get out of Iraq as soon as possible -- not for any bullshit "peace for the Iraqis", but for America's self-interest. They're in a hell of a jam, though, as pulling out will guarantee a lot of strife for a period of time.

They're fucked... They don't know what to do if they stay in, and they don't know what to do if they pull out.  I'm only half-kidding when I say they should turn it over to the Turks...

What was your argument for the US dollar going up, again?

"cause the bomber needs line of sight to detonate at the right instant?"

???  you dont think maybe there is someway they could achieve that without being, you know, inside a house?

"Not surprised that the soldier's actions are often irrational,"

oh, I totally agree.  its easy to point out someone elses stupidity when that person is in immediate danger of their lives and I am sitting at home in a peaceful country with some homemade meat pie filling my slightly rotund belly.

...doesn't make me any less right, but it does mean I dont really blame the soldiers so much as I do the assholes holding them there...

"They're in a hell of a jam, though, as pulling out will guarantee a lot of strife for a period of time."

<shrug> invading guaranteed a lot of strife for a period of time.

staying there guarantees a lot of strife for a period of time.

at least if we pull out, there is one less cause of strife present.
