Saw it today.
In general it was good. Good acting. Good special effects. Good humor. But nothing really happened, so I would say it's just OK. It wasn't worth it's own movie, maybe 20 minutes in a real movie.
Harry Potter was OKSaw it today.

Your reply isn't interesting, so I would never make it. > bitter much?
Bitter would be the person who took the time to post a nonsense reply. That speaks of roiling sea of bitterness. We just see the waves that happen to lap up into posts. A nonsense reply? It wasn't nonsense. It was a joke. You got it and it hurt because you're bitter.
+1 SoP. It was OK. It's the fifth book, 800 pages, a LOT of stuff happening. To condense that down to a 2-hour plus movie required some simplification of the plot.
Still, they had enough of the "key scenes" that it all hung together well. http://crazyontap.com/topic.php?TopicId=20506&Posts=6 - Harry Potter was OK

When making a joke it's always better to be funny and have point. Strike three. > When making a joke it's always better to be funny and have point. Strike three.
keep digging. > keep digging.
Your dessicated bones rotted away long ago, no need to dig. Silly me. I thought this was a thread about Harry Potter flick.
that sub-brit-boarding-school-enid-blyton-ripoff-bs has always bored the crap out of me.
rowling has made serious bucks though. I only just saw Goblet of Fire and was amazed:
At how much they were able to chop out. It was almost like a coles notes version of the book... here's a short bit at the Quidditch cup, a single Defense against the Dark Arts lesson, etc. Considering how much there is in the book, I think they did a good job condensing it, but it's a bit of a whirlwind. At how badly the current Dumbledore sucks. Richard Harris was way better. The current guy is badly produced (why does he always look like he's in a filthy old bathrobe?) and not written very well. I saw the movie. OK for what it was, but they could have snuck in a couple of scenes from the book that would have added some punch. In return, they could have maybe deleted stuff like the several-minute flight scene over nighttime London - cute, but not really necessary to the plot.
The scenes I particularly thought they should have left in were Sirius' crazy mother yelling from the picture on the wall, and the hospital scene where the kids run into Neville visiting his insane parents (which would have made the later scenes with evil Bellatrix more effective). Also they could have shown more of Fred and George's shenanigans and the final confrontation with Umbridge before they finally took off into the sunset. Maybe they should make an animated miniseries of all the books, and in so doing properly cover all of the plots and subplots from all the books. A 2 or 3-hour movie format just can't do justice to these stories. Meanwhile, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE LAST BOOK!!!!! Only a few more days! Woo hoo! |
