Ignorance Shrugged
“When the Democrats lost the nerve to confront the Soviet Union, I became a Republican. I began to read history and strategic assessment, and the more I read, the more conservative I became.”
-- Mark Helprin

"When the Republicans began forgetting the value of a small government that stays out of the private lives of the citizens, I became a Democrat. I began to read history, and read about McCarthy, and Nixon, and Vietnam, and the more I read, the more liberal I became."

Yikes! When I read the length that repubs have gone for short term quick fixes in my lifetime (becoming comunist as the link illustrates, asn Bush tactics: lowering taxes at the expense of the long term consequences, consolidating executive power, drastically INCREASING the fed gov't, reducing personal liberties, big time unprecidented jerrymandering to attempt longer stays in office)... I wonder what American would associate themselves with such idiots.
