Reconciling assholes for nearly a decade.

Tiger Woods is Black

He's black.

He's not multiracial, Asian, whatever.  He's black.

black black black

he got a big ass black nose, big ass black lips, and big ass black teeth.  He's got nappy ass black hair.

He's black.

Black as black.

Of course he's multiracial.  His mother is Japanese.

Why are you "black" if you're part black?  Why aren't you white if you're part white?

This nonsense has been used to justify discrimination for way too long.

Prominent Black features = Black.

But who cares?

The problem is that people CARE that he's Black, not that he's Black.

Surely its ok for black people to be proud of the fact that Tiger Woods is black and a great talent?

That doesnt make any sense.  He is less black than you are.

If Vanilla Ice does a rap video and trys to look black is he also black.

Eldrick 'Tiger' Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California to Earl and Kultida Woods. He is the only child of their marriage but has two half-brothers, Earl Jr. (born 1955) and Kevin (born 1957), and one half-sister, Royce (born 1958) from the 18-year marriage of Earl Woods and his first wife, Barbara Woods Gray. Earl, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran was of mixed African American (50 percent), Chinese (25 percent) and Native American (25 percent) ancestry. Kultida (nee Punsawad), originally from Thailand, is of mixed Thai (50 percent), Chinese (25 percent), and Dutch (25 percent) ancestry. This makes Woods himself one-quarter Chinese, one quarter Thai, one quarter African American, one-eighth Native American, and one-eighth Dutch.[3] He affably refers to his ethnic make-up as Cablinasian (a portmanteau of Caucasian, Black, American-Indian, and Asian), a term he coined himself.[4]

Also I would have thought you'd understand this shit more being that side of the pond where race is a much bigger issue.

It is interesting how in the US, as in apartheid-era South Africa only a small proportion of 'black' blood would automatically qualify a person as black.

Here is why: People are biologically / genetically / sociologically inclined to be racist. It is a design that helps our own or our common genes to prevail over genes of 'other' varieties. It's called natural selection that we so much praise over other ideologies like ID.

We only overcome our racism through science, reason and rationality. Also something we use to oppose other ideologies like ID ;)

So believing in and striving for a society without racism is futile. It will not come to pass. It is inherent in human nature. Not that I am advocating it, but I am saying that plainly dismissing it as evil or retarded or criminal is not going to help. Dealing with it does. Let's cherish and celibrate diversity. Tiger Woods is Black!

He's Taiwanese and some African country or another - they are not all the same.

The only sense that "Blackness" matters is that apparently, at some point in time, Blacks were not allowed in some golf clubs(?!).  Doesn't really matter, most Whites probably couldn't afford a membership in most golf clubs, anyhow - just my guess, correct me if I'm wrong.  Golf is too expensive for me, IMO - don't play it, don't watch it, but of course I know some of the personalities because our media celebrates them and tiger is as viable as they come, celebrity-wise.

So if your mother is white, your father black, you are going to be a culturally white kid, and vice versa.

Good observation. Tiger is an anomaly in a white men's sport and that has very clear historical reasons.
What is not an anomaly is that a new type of competitors in any kind of competition raises the level of performance. Probably because the establishment didn't need that progress and stopped believing it was possible at all.
This reminds me of Carl Lewis who never seemed to be able to break the longjump world record until somebody else did and the very first jump after that he did it. (1984 olympics?)

Exactly.  I agree with Shark, it's whatever your mother is, that's what you associate yourself with.

I have a Black roommate right now about as dark as coal, and he's probably more problem-free than any White roommate I've had, and I've probably had at least 20 of those.

My personal opinion is getting to be like this.  If you speak normally enough and you don't listen to ghetto, gangsta rap, you are White.  If you are White and you listen to that stuff, you are still Black, not really White.  ;-p  OTH, some rap is fun to listen to, the classics basically

I didnt chime on this because I have been spending 3 days trying to tell people how a "hosts" file works.

In honesty, I dont think muppet is too far off.  The term "black/white" is kind of irrelevant anyway.  I dont Woods is black (think that is inaccurate), but I dont really think he is white or asian either.  I would call Tiger Woods a golfer.

Also, I rarely use the term white, black, asian out in the real world.  I do use the term hispanic. I do use it online in terms of statistic and sometimes to refer to culture.

For example, if two "black" males are walking by and they are tall/skinny.  I would rather say:

There are two tall, skinny males walking by.  I wouldnt say, did you see those black males.  Same with white males/females.

Back when he was a young man
Back when he was Casius Clay
Before he fought too many fights
