Hmm.. the drive to work was odd this morning. All the orange plastic barrels lining the construction had been removed from their rubber bases and strewn about, left to lay on their sides. There were no workman.

I thought briefly that maybe it was some form of silent protest because one of them was hit by a car or something. It just seems 'off'.

I wonder if this has anything to do with that?

no there are no holidays today. MLK Day is in January.

It was the day in 1865 that the last slaves found out that they were freed. Black people have been observing this unofficially (AFAIK) since.
