Sanding our assholes with 150 grit. Slowly. Lovingly.

Are you...

generally happy with your life.  You have a job, have friends, family, do ok financially?

I mean, sure you might not be ecstatic but you aren't starving or suffering?

Generally happy or sorta happy?  I could do with more pay and more friends, really.

But I work for a startup, I do what I want.  I don't have to suffer through boring meetings (our meetings are always exciting), etc.  Home life is good.  Wife is great.  Kid is great.  Etc.

Ok, I asked the question, now my next question.  Why the f**k do we need more intrusive government?  I would say that the majority of Americans and Canadians seem to strive off a transparent government.  In the back of my mind, I am little concerned that when the Dems gain power that they will operate under a non-transparent government.(eg, Kucinich wants to give slave Reparations to african americans, so that mean government taking money from others and giving it to african americans, that isnt transparent)  But Clinton as far as I could tell didnt run an intrusive government so there is some hope.  Of course, the Bush government takes all money and puts into defense, trillions with a T.

Sorry, Wayne, does it piss you off that we keep talking about the US.

We need Canadian day on CoT.

More money would be nice, if I win a big lottery I'd quit in an instant and just run my own tiny company to keep busy.  About the only gripe I have is that the city I grew up in is now a big city w/ too many people, too many cars, houses are too expensive.

Other than that, I'm mostly happy, great wife and kid, job's ok w/ lots of flexibility.

Talking about your country makes me feel better about mine.

When people complain about their family driving them crazy with familial obligations, I always envy them.  At least they have a family that's in the neighborhood.

Americans really don't need a "more intrusive Government", they need the neo-cons to quit removing the structure put in place by Government to keep things working.

Like making tax-cuts then unbalancing the national debt.  Bad move.  Like removing restrictions against interstate banking, put in place during the Depression, because if you don't have restrictions you get national mega-banks that all fail at the same time.

Like insisting that power systems, a natural monopoly, be put into the Free Market.  In California and Maryland, these steps have resulted in HIGHER power prices, not lower.

Like trying to privatize Social Security.  The reason Social Security exists is that Private savings plans all failed at the same time.

Like reducing taxes on people making more than $200,000 a year.  They don't NEED their taxes reduced.  It's rediculous that Bill Gates pays 15% tax, while his employees pay 30%.

I like 'intrusive' government. Every letter from the IRS reminds me that someone really does care about me.

As a person.

Wonderful -- I was working at the IRS in 2000 when the "Kinder, gentler IRS" policy went through.  I'm glad to see it's bearing fruit.

>>Are you...generally happy with your life.  You have a job, have friends, family, do ok financially?

interesting/challenging job>yes
loyal/funny friends>yes
supportive/non-intrusive family>yes
stable finances>not so good, but my standards aren't very high.

i think my biggest concern is that my life seems a bit too "sedate".  i wouldn't mind a bit more impulsiveness and excitement scattered here and there.

"generally happy with your life.  You have a job, have friends, family, do ok financially? "

I cried on the train listening to John Mayer's Stop this Train cut.  I think I'm generally _un_happy, with brief bouts of happiness in between.
