Ability to post as another person
I dont really see why this is an issue? n the whole it doesn't happen much, and when it does its mostly pretty harmless. so philo starts sounding like a tourrets sufferer from time to time? who cares?
really I think people are putting too much emphasis on controlling things here.
Stop being so emotionally involved with your virtual selves :)

remember, overall its the long term discovery of who a person is thats important. if someone has been here for a while we will most likely recognize an impostor anyway (and if we dont who cares?) and if they haven't then...well...who cares if they get usurped?

Three reasons:
•A thread which consists of an argument over who is who approaches the boredom level of a poo post.
•A lot of the great & the good post under their given name.
•A thread consisting of one name looks bloody odd. If you remember the first few posts here, which you should, you'll know what I mean.

On an unrelated note, am I the only one seeing weird unicode pictographs in the preceding message?
There seems to be some sort of Har Har Har to your Unicode bug. Still, now we're all open source and stuff someone can fix it...
Well not me, I'm a technical writer. :)

And not me, because I can't get to the CVS from work... (Plus I'd only make it worse. :)
Nor me, I come out in hives just looking at php.
<?php
// Don't look, Simon!
$status = shell_exec('mysqladmin status -u status');
$status = str_replace(': ',':',$status);
$status = str_replace(' Queries',' Queries',$status);
//$status = str_replace(' ','',$status);
$statusArray = explode(' ', $status);
foreach($statusArray as $k => $v) {
$vArray = explode(':',$v);
$outputArray[str_replace(' ','',$vArray[0])] = round(($vArray[1]));
};
echo "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>\n";
echo "<mysqlStatus>\n";
foreach($outputArray as $k => $v) {
echo " <".$k.">".$v."</".$k.">\n";
};
echo "</mysqlStatus>\n";
?>
Too late.
Where's my camomile lotion.
