Mr Andrews (Immigration Minister), who decided Haneef had failed a "character test" under the Migration Act, also took the extraordinary step of criticising the Opposition for supporting the Government in its handling of the case.
That's almost good enough for an Antipodean "Yes Minister" except that Haneef, grabbed on his way out to India to see his newborn daughter, is still in solitary awaiting the outcome of this farce.

This has been festering for weeks and will come to a head soon. Andrews revoked Haneef's working visa so he would remain detained despite being bailed for charges now being reformulated.
I suspect that dud information from the UK is at fault but no-one will take the first backward step for fear of seeming soft or losing access to shared intel.
