Shooter
OMG this movie is incredible. Pretty standard fare, but the bad guys are written as the most evil fuckers imaginable - Blackwater analogues responsible for a mass killing, led by a "Senator" who in one scene is shown hunting with a bunch of his buddies...
Very topical.

It was pretty mundane. Totally overdone for how tough he is, pulling bullets out of his shoulder or whatever it was...

Huh, I just watched it for the first time last week; it's pretty good.
But if you like the movie you should really read the book _Point of Impact_ by Stephen Hunter. I've been a huge fan for years.
The guy can do suspense.

If it's not obvious, the movie is based on the book (written in 1993, btw).

I liked it quite a bit.

I win the showdown: I spend hours on CoT, clicking refresh, waiting for new posts.

Like Mongo says. The book is excellent.

Ok Philo, you win this round. I saw the movie and yea it was pretty good action.
My only complaint. Guy got scruffed up in the beginning and it felt like a fair match.
Then for the rest of the movie the guy turns into superman. Doesnt get scratched or anything. It was like, "Oh wow, there are 500 people chasing him, with helicopters and all, will he make it...of course"
Yup, extremely well done movie. The 'bad-guys' were completely stereo-typed, which was unfortunate.

Oh, and rather ultra-violent -- people getting shot in the head, landscape blowing up, that sort of thing.

Anybody notice Danny Glover's lisp or whatever that was. He sounded like he had all of his teeth knocked out and then put back in.
