I'm probably more dickish
than usual. And will be.
I'm pretty much fired, actually laid off, with the option of going to work for people I have zero desire to work for. I'm a short-timer at any rate, and I'm not real pleased about it. Kindly pardon my ensuing yellow-car weeks ahead.

sorry bout that. Maybe take some time off and enjoy life.
Nah, just found out Thursday night.
I want to take like a month or two.
I called my favorite headhunters Friday. I think they are trying to arrange an interview this week and they say the client wants someone to start permanent ASAP, so I may not get the option. I may try to talk to them about it when I interview.
Another guy I know is sending my resume over to his wife's co.
It isn't horrible, but I was just starting to get into the groove and appreciate being here, and since I was only at my last job a year I planned to be here awhile. Now I have two one year stays in a row.

Yikes! Good luck! Hope it doesn't happen to me. Actually, I'd be lucky to get a full year. ;-P
yellow car? you will drive a taxi?

Old JoSish reference. There was a book I think Joel mentioned. I bet it doubled its sales.
The pitchfork in the dog in the yard at midnight, or something like that... ;)

sorry to hear that JoC.
does that mean you will have more time to concentrate on your duties as a moderator? I mean, I dont want to be critical at a time like this, but I haven't seen you delete anything yet? or maybe you have and I just missed it?
anyway, bad luck. let us know when you are free for your mod shifts.

Heh. I didn't go for the mod job. I probably won't. Ever. I don't have much interest in deleting anything but obvious spam and it seems to disappear soon enough for me.
And well, even if it didn't, modding this place would be like investing time into making my time wasting more efficient. Mah head asplode.

" I don't have much interest in deleting anything but obvious spam and it seems to disappear soon enough for me."
oh, dont worry about that. I used to think like that myself. Turns out, once you have the power finding uses for it becomes increasingly easy.
for instance some days I just delete all posts by selected people. its actually quite funny, there is one poor chap who has been trying to post for the last 12 weeks....although I think he might have finally given up last week, I haven't seen any since then.
but anyway you really should sign up, the possibilities for entertainment are _much_ greater once you can just randomly piss people off AND delete their reactions.

Contrary to what it may seem sometimes, I really don't aim to piss people off.

incredible. really? but you are always so bloody annoying?!?
