Personally I like time travel themes, the tension between your children and their own destiny, the feeling that you aren't special unless you have a gift and is it worth a 50% chance of dieing to be special, the notion that people can create heaven on earth and others want to stop that, the fear that this will all turn horribly wrong even given the best intentions, the tension between using your powers for good or ill, the tension of not knowing if you are on the right side or not. And I love that the head of "microsoft" is the leader of the evil meanies from the future.
