Pinky characters?

I have never used my pinky to type {,}, its always been index finger.

If your index finger is closest to { and } on your keyboard you must either have strangely deformed hands or an odd keyboard layout?

Two-finger typing maybe? Hunt and Peck?

I don't really get the index finger comment since hunt & peckers wouldn't be stretching their index finger but would simply move it over the { or }.

But anyway, this is an interesting topic since I just checked what I do and it turns out that I actually use my ring finger for {}. This allows for fast rolling to the Enter key since Enter almost allows follows { and }. Pretty cool how the mind does these little optimizations automatically without you ever planning it that way.

Here's what I do.

When I have to type { or }, I lift my right hand fingers from their position and my ring finger holds shift key while my index finger presses { or } and all my fingers goes back to their natural position i.e. j, k, l, ;.

This is the first time I am realizing that I lift my hand to press a key.

Surely left pinky moves to left shift, and right pinky presses { or } -- anything else is just silly.

It's interesting to me that Mat is a moral subjective relavist, but an absolutist when it comes to typing.

There's a difference between a moral grey area and typing like a moron. :)

i use my middle finger for backspace as well.
