Okay, there have got to be some interesting 2006 wall calendars out there to be had...Anybody found a good one?
Preferably something geeky, SFW, and purchasable online, but I'm up for anything generally interesting / out of the ordinary.
Need a new wall calendar...Okay, there have got to be some interesting 2006 wall calendars out there to be had...Anybody found a good one?
Preferably something geeky, SFW, and purchasable online, but I'm up for anything generally interesting / out of the ordinary. I like the despair calendars, but I'm also a little tired of them. Plus, the joke is sort of lost on my office because the owners of our company actually put up the real "motivators" posters around the building -- I shit you not. I think sales people and the like who stop by actually look at them suspicously to try to figure out if they're supposed to be ironic or not.
I do have access to a nice color laser printer, so perhaps a DIY is in order if I can't find anything I like. Maybe I will make a calendar of OSX Dashboard Widgets and send a copy to Mark Warner. this is what I've got:
http://momastore.org/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=13042&categoryId=10326&langId=-1 if the url gets munched, check out momastore.org look up "moon phase calendar" Personally, I'm fond of Japanese artwork calendars. I don't get tired of the picture over a month, often I can download an on-line version and use that as my screen-saver.
And they serve that "you've got a window in your cubicle" purpose of breaking up the carpet and gray metal office divider theme. Depending on your work environment, this could be nice.

http://www.geekgorgeous.com/ One of them really *is* a rocket scientist. But none are black. Hmm.
On the good side (for diversity, anyway), they're not all blondes. There are no black female geeks.
Hmm, by definition? ie Black female techies are too cool to be geeks? I'd accept that argument.
I was being ironical, seein' as I'm a black female geek.
Weather-related:
http://www.met.fu-berlin.de/dmg/dmg_home/met_cals_www2006.html The Australian one is practically sold out. Orders for 2007 are taken in October IIRC. Worth bookmarking. >> There are no black female geeks. <<
Hmmm. No interest in being in next year's calendar, sharkfish? Myself, I'm just grateful they aren't showing the guys. Some geek with his gut hanging over his cell-phone encrusted belt with potato chip crumbs caught in his chest hair... yechhh. Darn, I was SURE I turned off that Internet Camera... Oh, wait, it IS off...
Psychic, I tell you, they're all becoming psychic... Hmm...Lots of very conservative accountant-type women in my office, example, so I'm guessing those might stir up some grumbling. Kind of like when the owner's *HOT* nieces come to work in super skimpy outfits that completely violate the dress code in the employee handbook because they know they're untouchable due to the nepotism clause. Not that **I** mind, of course.
On the other hand, if the calendar featured nothing but attractive *black* female geeks, it would fun to put it up just to confuse all my lily-white coworkers. I can set up an FTP share for you to upload the photos to if you're willing, sharky! ;) lily-white co-workers? the dress code in the employee handbook?
Where the heck are you working! What, no Carlie Fiorina sporting a thong and beach sand clinging tenaciously to her butt-cheeks?? [g/d/r]
Not quite Carlie Fiorina, but Sloggi is worth a look....
