All right I'm sorry but I'm thoroughly unimpressed with Sirius
I've had it for an evening and there's just nothing all that compelling on it. There's a bunch of music that I could get on my mp3 player, except it's on someone else's schedule and not mine. The talk radio is kind of dull.
I'm going to wait until tomorrow when Stern's channels come up (the news 101 channel is just playing a heartbeat all night tonight, wtf?) and see if that justifies the expense. If not this'll be my first and last month.
Oh well, the starmate looks pretty neat hanging just about my steering wheel. It's all like, the Matrix, and shit.
What were you expecting above and beyond that? Sounds like your expectations were unrealistic.

Yeah I guess that's true. :)
I'm looking for original content, I suppose. The talk radio channels could be better. Maybe it's just that there's nothing good on on Sunday night. :)
The talk stations may not have Sunday content scheduled since they are typically preempted by the Sunday drive. The music selection isn't going to be much more original then you'd have on your mp3 player, or even the radio itself, although at least you'll hear random things pop in every now and then, and its not just the same beastie boys song over and over like my local radio. The thing that makes the music worth its weight at least is when you hear a song, wonder who sings it and then realize your Sirius player is telling you. The only things I really listen to on Sirius are Left of Center, BBC World Report, Fox News, Shade 45, Discovery Channel, Salsa 92, BBC1, and the new Shuffle station. I mainly got it for the Football though.

I was thoroughly enjoying the Stern show this morning, but I only got to hear the first 30 minutes of it because I have no docking station to bring it into my office :( There aren't any to be had anywhere and probably won't be until February.
Mark, you can listen on the internet? I listened to him on the way in this morning too...sounds about the same.

Stern's not available on the site. Only "select channels" are. Anyway I wouldn't want the potential headaches of bringing Stern down through the company bandwidth :)
It IS about the same, but that's what I want. I don't think anyone's looking for a new Stern show, they want THE Stern show.
Still, it's pretty jarring when he's going along like usual and then out of the blue calls somebody a fucking cunt. :-)
And they were playing the Pat O'Brien tapes uncensored, which was hilarious, and then they played them to music, which had me DYING.
Without a home kit, getting my fiance's radio working at her desk was a matter of buying a cigarette-to-wall transformer/adapter and drilling holes through floors to get the antennae up on the roof (it wouldn't work by a window or even out on the porch.)
I don't know if the home kit includes some sort of roof antennae/dish or a booster, or what.
And I messed up the first time I tried to drill (I had to go through the floor because the walls are 8" solid pine logs) and drilled a 1" bore 3 inches deep into an 8x8" rough crossbeam in the ceiling downstairs. :P
My antenna worked fine at the house but doesn't work at all at the office even when I hung the antenna out the window. Must be the way they built the building.
Since I bought the radio for the office I'm kind of pissed, but since it came with a car component I'm just going to give it to my son for his car. Lucky son.
Stern was great this morning! Can't believe they got George Takei to announce for them - talk about a good sport after they made fun of him on the air for years.

Which receiver did you get? I'm going to Circuit City this afternoon to get a home kit for my Starmate.
The car antennae will work at the house if you put it up on the roof. I guess you can't really do that in the office, though. :)
The home kit, I've found out since posting the OP, DOES have a larger dish antennae with some sort of booster so that it will work better indoors.
I only heard the first 30 minutes, but George was hilarious.
