(BTW: I link that because it's the same songwriter/singer. There is swearing in it for those who play audio at work)

That ebaumsworldsucks site is amusing. At first glance, it comes across quite reasonably, like the guy has a legitimate complaint. But you go to his chat with ebaum and he looks like a total idiot:

Yep.

The forum is full of idiots, too.

They might have a legitimate complaint, which is sad, because they're utterly incompetent to present it. :)

It's people who want a colour - crips, bloods, Something Awful, ebaum's World. The "battle" really kicked off when Ebaum (purportedly) maliciously launched a distribued denial of service attack against Something Awful.

Obviously there's some sort of turf war going on, but it comes across more like little kids than gangs.

The DOS thing sounds bad, but there are other problems on the Wikipedia page:

>>> He also claims to respect copyright laws and honors requests to remove content. However, this is contradicted by the fact that eBaum's World has a webpage [8] dedicated to the copyright infringement and cease-and-desist letters that they themselves have ignored in the past.

The page referred to says nothing about how ebaums responded to the letters, it just shows the letters as examples of what they've been asked to remove.

"but it comes across more like little kids than gangs"

Sure, the stakes are much more laughable, but the motivations are the same. A kid in LA will kill another kid because they (arbitrarily) chose a different primary color to align with. How ridiculous is that?

BTW: They should call themselves the Veins and the Arteries.

Intellectual Property rights are laughable, Dennis? Seems like a LOT of people disagree with you. :)

Take things out of context much? The smiley doesn't save you from being a moron. He's specifically talking about this situation (a couple of competing websites), not IP in general. It's more than one person on each side, but not much more, and they're just saying "he posted my stuff and wouldn't take it down" "yes I did" "no you didn't, and here's lots of other people that say the same" "wah!" "wah!"

"He posted my stuff and wouldn't take it down." equates to IP, Wardy Poo.

Your use of quotes doesn't save you looking like a horses arse.

Ok, try to keep with me here...

Yes, it's IP

Yes, in some global "all is good and just with the universe" (hey, more ""!) sense, the IP of some little flash movie is every bit as valuable and worthy of protection as your book or Dilbert, or some ASIC core, or whatever.

But it's cheesy little flash movies, widely posted, there are signs that the site they're complaining about does take the offending material down when asked, so yeah, it's laughable that they're getting themselves twisted into a know about it.

"moron" :)

There are signs as in they claim to do it, but evidence that they have not, apparently.

Anyway Ward it doesn't matter what YOU think the work is worth, it's still property of the author. Ebaum makes cash, real cash, off of his site, and so it's not as though he's just helping these artists out to some exposure out of the goodness of his heart.
