British people, in general, are full of shit. So many examples on this board too.

Any reason to believe that Americans would answer any differently?

I think you'd have to explain the question first.

Have you ever considered that the 10% who would rather have fame than brains might know they only have a faint slim chance of the former and fuck all chance of the latter...

Women: Would you rather add 50 IQ points or two cup sizes?
Men: Would you rather be a renowned physicist or a football star?
Any college student: Would you rather win the Nobel Prize or an Oscar?

I daresay it's not just Brits...

I think the financial success of Jews is down to the fact that they'd rather be a professor or world renowned optometrist rather than (for example) a sports star.

Like Philo and Jesus said, I don't think the results of this questionnaire would be much different were it conducted in North America.

Hmm... seems us Britons are a little more sophisticated then you, given that you don't seem to have even read the first line....

"more than one in 10 young Britons would quit school to become tomorrow's tabloid star, a survey showed on Friday."

More than one in 10 children of school age. So less than 10% of school kids in Britain want to leave school, I'm surprised it's that few.

As always it's the wording of the question and dubious use of the results. So in reality more than 8 in 10 said they wouldn't leave school.... and then this bomb shell.

"Around nine percent thought fame was a great way to earn money without skills or qualifications."

The results of both questions cannot be used to come up with the head line, in fact quite the reverse.
