Ok, I know I am in Philo's turf bringing up BSG.

At last a dud episode.  I knew it was bound to happen. I still can't face reality. Why can't they all be great?

I was thinking the same thing, but I think it's that to be great, you have to recognize they can't all be great. If it's all shooting cylons and space battles, everything is interchangeable and it's not compelling.

Adding depth to the characters and the fleet makes it a little more "real"

The last 2 episodes were basically the same, a "charachter reset."  The president got her life back, the Apollo got his status back.  Now everyone has been rehabilitated and everything is back to normal.  Please go back to fighting Cylons (or mating with them, or whatever we do).

For the entire first season I thought "I can't believe that every episode just gets worse."

Things have been relatively the same for a long time now, Pegasus subplot aside. Sharon is still in jail, Baltar is still VP, etc. etc.
